December is here, and it’s time to get Christmassy! London is one of the best places to be during the festive season as they can be anything from Christmas caroling to the ultimate winter wonderland experience. As university draws to a close for the winter break, we’ve decided to help you out with a list of the best things to do and places to see this winter.
Winter Wonderland, Hyde Park
Your winter holiday will not be the same without a trip to Winter Wonderland. Get into the festive spirit and join the thousands of Londoners visiting Hyde Park to shop, ice-skate and enjoy the circus lights. This park has wowed spectators since 2006 and it continues to grow every year with its many attractions. This year you can look forward to Santa’s Factory with all the magical elves, The Magical Ice Kingdom and the ultimate double decker carousel. So grab your friends together and experience one of London’s’ biggest and brightest celebration.
Ice Rink, Somerset House
If you’re looking for tradition and fun, the Somerset House is where you need to be this winter. Nothing beats a spectacular tree, festive music, and ice-skating! Even if you can’t skate go with friends and have fun learning, there’s no better place to begin. The Somerset House is a truly stunning location to have a fairy tale winter.
Christmas Carols, Trafalgar Square
Nothing spells out Christmas other than good ol’ carolling. Have fun this winter and head down to Trafalgar Square and visit the impressive carollers. With a magnificent tree and over 500 white lights, the carollers will be performing between the 5th December and the 22nd December. So get your friends together and join the choir.
The Great Christmas Pudding, Covent Garden
Support an amazing cause and have some fun at The Great Christmas Pudding Race at Convent Garden. Founded in 1980, the event raises money for Cancer Research and features thousands of people all dressed up, celebrities and lots and lots of spectators. The race is between 24 teams in festive garments following a relay-style obstacle course; a deffo Instagram snap moment! With live music, Christmas puddings and hot drinks, you need to be heading down to Covent Garden on the 6th December.
Christmas Lights, Regent Street
Every Londoner knows how busy Oxford and Regent Street gets during Christmas however it’s amazing lights and shop displays makes it one of the most beautiful times. With so much going on you will experience street dancers, musicians and the ultimate shopping bonanza. This is a trip worth doing alone as you will get to experience London in all its beauty.
